Designer Violeta Tentomas provides insight into the season’s focus, “The core idea for this collection was to rework the staples of a women’s wardrobe. We approached this by utilizing innovative fabric combinations manufactured with new construction techniques and special attention to detail. We’ve introduced rarely used salmon leather from Iceland, goat leather from India and Japanese cow leather and mixed them with soft silks, lightweight wools and denim-like chambray to bring a new perspective to accessible luxury. Drawing inspiration from a boyfriend’s closet, the over-sized sweatshirt and the worn-in denim shirt were re-engineered to perfect-slouchy pieces. Standard ribbing is recreated in leather and applied as a tuxedo strip on loosely-tailored shorts. In West 14th’s signature unique style, this season’s statement biker jacket was propelled to new heights through the use of exotic salmon leather. The colour palette electrifies in bright pinks, golds, uptown navy, cool-grey, leopard and denim-like blue. The collection provides clothing with masculine comfort but with an edgy feminine touch. Autumn/Winter collection delivers non-stop wild contradiction – downtown cool meets uptown chic with an approachable twist.
