24 Feb Resort 2014 Inspiration Story

Tranquility. Clarity. Moments of reflection.
These are the three underlying themes of West 14th’s newest collection for Resort ‘14. The range utilizes a neutral colour palette balanced with subtle tones of metallics and purples to translate the themes into sophisticated and versatile pieces. Resort ’14 delivers a covetable, well-edited selection of signature leather styles in sophisticated silhouettes taking you from urban chic to island retreat.
Designer Violeta Tentomas drew inspiration for this latest collection from a recent trip to PomPom Island, Borneo. “I stepped off the chartered boat onto a weathered timber boardwalk. It was built over clear shimmering water leading to a secluded beach with only pure white sand. There were silver fish swimming underfoot and I could see the soft purples of marine life. Paradise! I wanted to recreate this island welcome and feeling of serenity through the use of a clean colour palette and simple lines”
What results is a curated collection of West 14th’s sleek silhouettes; still recognizably cool yet with a more refined touch. The cinched waist of the Washington trench, modern cuts of the Astor jacket, clean lines in the Dakota skirt are all revitalized this season through rich island-inspired colours such as desert sand, cloud white, skin, metallic silver and oyster purple.
